Sentinel Plus - System Architecture
Sentinel Plus offers a single scalable system suitable for any size of alarm receiving centre. Systems feature a hot standby capability with the option of an additional off-site disaster recovery capability.
Sentinel Plus uses a relational database management system for safe data storage of alarm, video and audio information. For excellent transaction throughput, scalability, reliability and low administration requirements we recommend IBM Informix Dynamic Server. We also offer full support for Microsoft SQL Server platform if this solution is required by the customer.
Multi-process signalling allows high throughputs: in excess of 200 signals per second can be achieved by Sentinel Plus systems using midrange server systems from vendors such as HP or IBM.
System Profiles
Entry level system
- Two duplicated and replicated database servers with front-end processor software for signal handling.
- Operator workstation(s).
- Network serial hubs and spare for communication with serial receiving equipment (may not required if all signalling is IP-based or Red Care).
- Network switch and spare.
- DSL router (or other broadband equipment) with PSTN modem backup for remote support.
Fully featured system
The fully featured system contains all the features from the low cost system but differs in that dedicated machines are used for the database servers and front-end processors. The Sentinel Plus system can take full advantage of high-performance servers and network switches and you can choose a level for hardware and performance suited to your requirements.
In addition the system shown has all the optional modules including Automated Alarm Handler, Web Services, Engineer access, Report Scheduler for automated report generation and firewall suitable for running Web Services over the internet.
